Glacier Soap - Frequently Asked Questions

Another great result....

My Name is Barbara Campell, I moved to Vernon from Vancouver last year and because of the very dry weather which I was not used to as I lived my whole life at the Coast, I got exzema on my hands on two different fingers. I tried all kinds of herbal and natural lotions all claiming that it would cure this, I even tried a cream from South Africa that the doctors from their recommend, nothing worked and I was very frustrated as I spend a lot of time cooking and my fingers were always splitting and sore, I went into Natures Fare in Vernon and a man suggested I try your soap, it was $7.99 a bar so I bought it and it has been the only thing that has worked I have now got rid of this nasty skin irritiation. Thank you so much it was the best money I have ever spent.

One Happy Customer, Barbara

What is Shea butter and what is so special about it?

Shea butter is an oil derived from the African Karite Tree. It has been used extensively in African countries to heal irritated skin and soothe stretch marks. Unique to shea butter is it's high content of non-saponifiable fats, which means much of the shea butter does not turn into soap and is available as a moisturizing element in the soap. Shea butter is added to the majority of our products.

Does your soap contain lye?

All soap contains sodium hydroxide (lye), the ingredient responsible for converting natural oils to soap. It is important to note that no sodium hydroxide is left in the final product.   Natural lye soaps leaves us with a greener environment.

Are natural handcrafted soaps good for skin conditions such as eczema and Rosacea?

Yes. Skin conditions such as eczema and rosacea exhibit extremely dry, itchy skin and should never be exposed to exfoliants, food colouring or scents. Glacier Soaps’ skincare products are specially formulated with ultra-moisturizing shea and cocoa butters. The calendula flower petals or calendula infused rice bran oil offer natures healing power to reduce inflammation, soothing irritated and itchy skin.

How long does 1 bar of soap typically last?

The average bar of soap will last between 3-4 weeks but will vary based on usage. All handcrafted soaps should be stored on a well drained soap dish or and located in an area of the shower that receives minimal spray.
